Sometimes we want to track number of spontaneous comments emitted during a play session. These spontaneous comments don’t need to be just mands. We want to know how much our student is actually initiating talking.
Therefore, we get together with our team and define what “spontaneous language” is for a particular student. Sometimes it includes manding and commenting when unprovoked by an adult. Sometimes it is only manding. Other times it is every time a student answers our questions. You can individualize this program as much as you want to in order to customize it to your learner.
Then set aside 5-minute play periods where you are going to track the data since it’s almost impossible to do this all session.
