This is a beginner skill and can be started when a child has some consistent sounds.
Fill-ins are a great way to begin to teach intraverbals. They are the student’s ability to fill in blanks from songs, to fill in common phrases (eg: “ready, set, …” “go”) and eventually leads to basic social questions, animal sounds, and conversation.
