All Courses 9 Topic 9 Video Modeling
Video Modeling

Goal of video modelling = to expand play sequences.

Note: You want to make sure that the model for each step of the video is super slow. It feels very unnatural, but this allows some processing time for students to copy the video.

Attached is a sample data sheet.

How to teach using video modelling:

  1. Probe – Collect data on a TA (order does not matter)
  2. Show video in its entirety
  3. Either:
  • a)Present toys and physical guidance from behind when necessary
  • b)Re-watch video with toys in view and pause at each step to have the student complete that step

The star of the video can be:

  • Unknown adult
  • Known adult
  • Known peer
  • Student
  • Preferred character (E.g., “Elmo says…”)
