Help! What do I do when I’ve tried your procedure and it’s not working?

Don’t worry. Accidents don’t have to be set backs. Not every student will be successful at toilet training right away. Many neuro-typical children take six months or more to train.

Here are some ideas that you may need to implement.

1. Desensitize a student to the bathroom first before the toilet training process even begins. (Tolerates Toilet)

2. Look at REINFORCEMENT (There is no graph for this)

Is the preferred item/activity POWERFUL enough?

Is it ONLY being used for toileting?

Is it being delivered IMMEDIATELY upon elimination?

3. Wee Wetter for Underwear (alarm sounds when underwear is a tiny bit wet, signalling time for toilet)
