All Courses 9 Topic 9 Matching
Matching

Matching is a program that we teach to kids who need it – some kids can probe out of it quickly. If a child has the visual performance component of it, they may just need to be taught what “match” means.

Color identification is an early attribute. Students have typically acquired 200+ labels before we teach colour id.

When teaching colors, begin by teaching students to match by color. Once they can match, then we teach receptive and expressive – typically 3 targets at a time. We typically start with primary colors, unless they have an affinity for a particular color.

Remember to randomly rotate mastered targets between teaching sets.

A great website for pictures cards is: (just print out two copies of each for identical matching)
