This teaching program is good for students who are verbal and can reflect on their actions and understand consequences of their behaviour.
Use scenarios from the “Antecedent Log” (found in Behavior: Data Sheets) to role play. Target the scenarios one at a time until each one reaches mastery.
Take turns acting out the positive and negative outcomes of the situations.
Practice, practice, practice. Evoke the specific situation that the student is working on for more practice. For example, if the student gets angry when he’s not first in line, offer practice situations. You can even tell him about it in advance to prepare him, then fade the advance notice.
Take data on generalization by tracking frequency of occurrence of negative behavior – is what you’re teaching generalizing to real situations?
