All Courses 9 Lesson 9 RBT vs BCBA role
RBT vs BCBA role

What is your role as an RBT or Paraprofessional?

Your role in the simplest form is to implement the programming, follow the behavior treatment plan, and collect data.  Your BCBA should do all the assessment, program planning, and behavior treatment and data analyzing and decision making.

If something isn’t working, contact the BCBA immediately.  Don’t go rogue.  If you try to implement something not in the behavior plan, it could cause someone to get hurt.  If a challenging behavior arises and you do not know what to do, do everything you can to get your student back to a state of calm and contact your BCBA immediately.  The BCBA will know more about the history of the learner and will be able to choose the right treatments to be effective.

Remember each child’s programming is individualized so just because you used a treatment with one learner does not mean it will work with another.

If in doubt, contact your BCBA.
