Once students are requesting with nouns, the goal is to increase their mean length of utterance. To start, when they request a noun, model back for them a two-word phrase. E.g., Student: “Juice” Therapist: “Drink juice” + hands him/her the juice
Use “2 Word Requests” to teach 2-word requesting. Note: We typically use visuals to teach verb + noun, but if students learn quickly from verbal models, use those instead.
