Echoic Tact Data Sheet

We love teaching using echoic-to-tact transfer.

Method:

Hold up a picture. Say the name of the picture. Have your learner repeat. Then say, “What?” and have the learner say the name of the picture again. Then put down the picture and hold it back up. Wait 1 second. If the student labels the picture, provide praise. If the student does not, go through the echoic-to-tact transfer again.

Likewise, you can use this procedure for a tact-to-intraverbal transfer.

Method:

Ask a question + hold up a picture. Teach the student to answer your question at the tact level. Once the student is able to do this, then use a time delay between when you ask the question [wait/time delay] and when you hold up the picture.
