Non-Verbal Requesting

Non-Verbal Requesting is one of the very first requesting programs taught.

The goal of this program is for the student to recognize that an adult can get the child’s needs met. This is the very beginning of a manding for assistance program.

Contrive a situations whereby the student needs an adult to continue something fun.

For instance, wind up a toy or a spinning top and then let it fall. Teach the student to hand the top back to the adult to wind it again. Another example is to put a preferred item in a clear container with a difficult to open lid. Teach the student to hand the container to an adult to open.
