Students typically are able to request from adults before beginning this program.
Note: If you have a student who is non-verbal, you can still still teach this program. You will just have to modify the type of request required (e.g., PECS, Proloquo2Go, Sign, Point, 1-Word Utterance, etc.)
“Snack time request ideas” include some examples of how to modify the environment to promote requesting opportunities at snack time (with or without an adult).
At your next team meeting or staff training, it may be beneficial to divide therapists into groups to brainstorm some other ways to contrive manding situations. You will probably get more buy-in too (and lots of creativity)!
