All Courses 9 Topic 9 Requests Using Wh-Questions
Requests Using Wh-Questions

Here’s our program for teaching students to request using Wh-Questions (where, who, what, etc.).

We sometimes use “PRT Initiation Statements” instead as it is more indicative of typical language development (i.e., children typically ask, “What’s that?” before they ask, “Where” etc.)

Sometimes it is difficult to think of ways to contrive wh-mands. We brainstormed with our team and came up with “Ideas for Contriving WH Mands.”

It may be helpful (and you may have more buy in) if you break therapists into groups at your next team meeting or staff training to have them brainstorm a list of how they can contrive wh-manding situations.

Attached are some visuals that we use to assist in the teaching process.
