Once we’ve determined the function of negative behaviour to be attention-maintained, treatment should begin. But, where do we start?! Help. There are so many different treatment procedures for attention-maintained behaviour in the literature! Do we just pick one and hope for the best? Do we try to do a cocktail of a bunch of procedures to ensure that we are not missing anything?
Dr. Linda LeBlanc and her colleagues have developed an evidence-based algorithm to help us choose which procedure is best for your client. The full article is attached.
It’s a great read because it also describes the the various treatment procedures in detail. The “Attention Maintained Algorithm” is a one-pager algorithm that the researchers outlined in their article. It’s a great tool for training staff!
